10.2 Reactivity series
The order of reactivity of potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, (hydrogen) and copper.
Compare their reactivity in the reactions (if any) with water, steam, dilute hydrochloric acid and the reduction of their metal oxides by carbon. How do deduce reactivity from experimental results.
Relate the reactivity series to the tendency of a metal to form positive ions. Know how this effects the reactions of aqueous ions and metal oxides.
The action of heat of the hydroxides and nitrates of the metals in the series
Why aluminium is apparently not as reactive as it should be because of the layer of aluminium oxide formed.
