The First steps
If you are new to IB Diploma, the first thing you need to do is familiarise yourself with the course guide. Make sure you refer to the correct edition! It should say " First assessment 2016"

Teachers aren't perfect!
Make sure that YOU know what you can be tested on.
Just to help, here is a version of the syllabus statements in word format
WORD FORMAT
You also need to familiarize yourself with the data booklet. Again, this has changed, so make sure you use the correct version! You will be able to use this for Paper 2 and Paper 3, so make sure you know what is in it! In particular look at the equations, constants and conversions given in tables 1 and 2. You don't want to waste time trying to remember an equation if it has already been provided.

Some things you should know before we start . . .
Everybody taking IB chemistry has studied chemistry before - either as a separate science or as part of coordinated science. I expect you to remember the things you have already learned. In particular:
Some help with these can be found HERE. The sooner you learn these the sooner I can stop moaning at you!
- The names and formulae of the common acids and alkalis you have used.
- A number of simple chemical reactions.
- The names, formulae and charges of common anions and cations, and how to use these to work out the formulae of compounds.
